Ok, got it... feeling dumb now. Installd and restarted.

It seems to run smoothly (although I could have some errors in the beginning due to my firewall as long as I don't decide if I let the communication going in or or).

As I'm writing this, two work units failed, two are still "in action".

Downloading some new tasks now to see if issue resolved.

One task 6% in after 15 minutes. BOINC is estimating about 4 hours to completion.

You need Git for Windows. Do you have it installed?

First task completed on my Ryzen7. So I can confirm that using the BOINC data directory works.

Catchercradle, dthonon: I published a new app version (220514) which uses the project dir as fallback if /tmp is not writable.

On my 64 Core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X with 64Gbytes of memory I can only run 27 threads and the rest are waiting for memory and errors out with insufficient memory/ That indicates to me that the project uses over 2 Gbytes of RAM. Does it have to use such high Memory ratio? It seems a waste of computer time. I am still experimenting to see what is the magic figure of safe units to run so that I don't get errors caused by insufficient memory.

I posted Heads up...waiting for memory. "The default memory usage is 50% when the computer is in use in Computing preferences. I changed "When computer is in use, use at most" to 90 % and fully utilize 10 cores hyperthreaded, 20 tasks."

I have 32GB RAM and 20GB are in use.

We will see where this goes. The valid ran 4.6 hours on an
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8265U CPU @ 1.60GHz (fairly old Dell Laptop)

The expected memory usage is 1GB and 1 CPU per task. The expected runtime per task is 4h. We still try to figure out how to configure the BOINC jobs correctly to reflect these requirements. If you are interested, we are using the BOINC wrapper app: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/WrapperApp

Solved. For Windows, do not install git in a different location other than the default path (C:/Program files). Otherwise the program will go error.

I am getting a lot of these on one particular host, it's not overclocked, running an Ubuntu VM inside Windows 10. Another almost identically configured machine is not getting the errors:

The error is EXIT_TIME_LIMIT_EXCEEDED. The execution time is actually below the limit of 5h. My guess would be: the task was resumed after some break and BOINC counts the entire execution time. We don't have checkpoints yet, but we will add it soon (in the next appversion). I would assume that this will fix the problem.

Thank you for your reply. I found it interesting that the time limit exceeded error shows in the stderr_txt, but wasn't reported in the log . I don't believe the tasks that were running on this host were interrupted, at least not manually, but it is possible they were suspended by BOINC due to low memory. I may try running much fewer tasks for a while on that host to see if that helps.

Btw.: It's the only one of my six Linux machines (part Ubuntu, part Debian) to feature respective problems.
