@all: This thread is already quite long. It could help if you start new threads based on the error messages you see in the logs. Otherwise I might miss some of your posts. |

I'm not sure how I can find more information than the Stderr output that I have posted above, once the task is sent back to the boinc server ? Oh I understood, sorry for being slow. I do find this one : wu_1652470802_257_1 / wu_1652470802_257 ==> "Cannot submit program to API server" That one I can't find it : wu_1652467502_302_3 / wu_1652467502_302 But for the moment I don't have more error, I have 13 valid tasks now and 18 pending, so I won't complain anymore for now :) NB : forum email notification is not working (I did set it up in my preferences), I don't get emails for subscribed post |

The last error is a network problem on your machine. It fails to connect both to the API server and the fall-back option (OEIS server). There were two errors today at different times and the most recent was 16 May 2022, 15:06:30 UTC. I am running ten cores hyperthreaded, 20 tasks at a time. I can change the BIOS setting after I complete jobs in queue and not use hyperthreading for a while. Edit: I am no longer hyperthreading. Downloaded git and installed it and restarted the client but still getting the same error: on all tasks running on this Windows 10 machine. @Dingo: do you still not receive work units? That would be strange. Other miners receive work. @Vester: indeed strange. It looks to me like the process was killed by the OS or BOINC. This could be due to insufficient available memory. Can you please check the overall memory consumption and resources on your machine? |

I will monitor RAM usage. RAM usage is currently 83.5% (23.4GB) of the allowed 90% for LODA in my preferences. Twenty processes are running on the installed 32GB RAM. I had no errors overnight while not hyperthreading the ten cores. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Intel i9-10850, BOINC 7.18.1 (x64), LODA 2205.14. Team USA |

I am getting the same error on all tasks on my main PC with a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and 32 GB of RAM. I'm getting the errors both in Windows 10, and when I try running the project in a Linux Mint 20 virtual machine on that computer. GIT is installed in both the Windows 10 host OS and in the Linux Mint VM. Both the host and the VM have been rebooted multiple times for troubleshooting purposes. All of my computers with Intel processors appear to be working normally, both in Windows and in Linux. The tasks say that they are running for a few minutes before getting the error. But the error log looks like they may just be sitting doing nothing for a short time before they actually try to load the wrapper, and then they fail within a few seconds of loading the wrapper. The CPU usage on the computer seems to confirm this, as CPU usage is almost zero, even with 22 tasks (out of 24 CPU threads) showing as running in the BOINC Manager. Windows 10 host machine: https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/show_host_detail.php?hostid=313 Windows error log sample: <core_client_version>7.16.20</core_client_version> Linux Mint VM: https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/show_host_detail.php?hostid=319 Linux error log sample: <core_client_version>7.16.6</core_client_version> |

By the way, if you truly want your computers to be anonymous the line https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/show_host_detail.php?hostid=319lets it be found by substituting 319 for the host number of one of their own computers in the url. |

One of my Windows work units failed with Exit status 195 (0x000000C3) EXIT_CHILD_FAILED. In the Stderr output it says: 15:54:42 (6580): app exit status: 0xc0000409 15:54:42 (6580): called boinc_finish(195) I looked in the log file for this work unit and found: 2022-05-18 15:54:38|ERROR|Cannot create C:\ProgramData\BOINC/projects/boinc.loda-lang.org_loda\stats\lock I hope this information will help those who are trying to solve the reason for these failures. |

@Fardringle: at least one of your miners is working, see this finding: https://twitter.com/lodaminer/status/1526937557749088256 Do you see any error messages in your logs? https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/logs.php |

@M0CZY: Can you please share the log lines before the errors message, including the timestamps? We currently have a time limit of 10 mins for the folder locking. I suspect that the stats generation took longer on your machine. Can you please also search for log messages like "Generating stats" and check how long it took until it finished? |

@Fardringle: at least one of your miners is working, see this finding: Yes, I have several computers with Intel i7 and Xeon processors, some running Linux Mint and some running Windows 10, and those are all working fine. The main PC with the Ryzen 9 3900X CPU is the only one getting errors, and it fails in both Windows 10 and in Linux. I just realized that the Linux VM was created with only 3.8GB of RAM for some reason, and not adjustable. I suspect that the Linux tasks were failing due to the lack of RAM. So I created a new virtual machine and gave it 16GB of RAM with the ability to use up to 24GB if needed. I can't let it have any more than that or it will crash the Windows 10 host OS. LODA seems to be running OK now in the Linux VM with only 50% of the CPU (so 12 tasks instead of 24). It's not perfect, but at least it's not erroring out right away like it was before, so I'll let it run this way for a while to see if the tasks complete successfully. The LODA tasks still get the same errors in Windows, though, and I'd like to figure out why, so I can let the project have more RAM and run more tasks simultaneously. |

So I created a new virtual machine and gave it 16GB of RAM with the ability to use up to 24GB if needed. I can't let it have any more than that or it will crash the Windows 10 host OS. Tasks are completing successfully if I only run 12 at a time in the Linux VM with 16+ GB of RAM. I'd prefer to run about twice that many tasks to make use of all of the CPU threads but it looks like I'd have to give the VM more RAM than I have available.. I still want to try to get LODA running in the Windows 10 host on the Ryzen 9 computer so I can maximize the number of simultaneous tasks, if anyone has suggestions how to fix the error I'm getting. This is interesting, though I am not going to spend any time on it except reporting it. LODA works fine on my Intel i9-10900F. https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/results.php?hostid=157 But it fails completely on a Ryzen 3950X. https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/results.php?hostid=336&offset=0&show_names=0&state=6&appid= Both are on Ubuntu 20.04.4, and it appears that git is installed correctly, but I don't know anything about how to check it. EDIT: Now they seem to be running OK on the Ryzen, but only five are running. Originally it was seventeen. So maybe it is a problem with how many try to run at once? EDIT 2: Now eleven are running OK. So either the problem starts with more than that, or else maybe it is a problem with how many try to start at once. Some projects have that problem. EDIT 3: On my i9-10900F, I had as many as nineteen running at once, so the problem is apparently not the total number running, but how many try to start at once. I think I will leave it to someone else to try to find the magic number. It might depend on what type of CPU or OS that you have. EDIT 4: Now I have eighteen (18) running OK on the Ryzen. So it is certainly not the total number that is the problem. But remember, they take 1 GB of memory. I ran out of memory when I tried to run too many on my i9-10900F with 16 GB of memory. I had to increase it to 32 GB. |

@Fardringle: There was an "Access is denied." error in your logs indicating that LODA can't write to the "stats" folder inside your project folder. Can you please check if the "programs" and the "stats" folders exist and contain any files/subfolders? |
