1) Questions and Answers : Bugs : only Linux or Darwin ? (Message 912)

Which Windows version do you use? And what is the output of "curl --version" ?

One thought here: if you were to add to the Applications line for Windows that 'git-hub' is required it would make it easier for more people to join your Project. And then maybe add a Forum Board with a link to the one you prefer so at least most people are trying to use what you want them to use resulting in fewer problems. Remember most people are newbies to Boinc let alone 'git-hub' .

3) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Why do I need GIT installed on my Windows 11 PC in order to run this project? (Message 897)

It seems to run just fine on its own, although I've noticed LODA does not show up in any of the popular stats sites like https://signature.statseb.fr/next_badges.py and BOINCstats in particular. I seem to have a badge but i can't get it or my stats to show up in signature.statseb.fr
please advise, thanks

Down near the bottom right of your badges picture is a 100K box that I believe is you stats here, mine is 500K and you can see it below, for both of us it's just to the left of the PrimeGrid badges.
4) Questions and Answers : Bugs : Trojan Bearfoos in LODA? (Message 896)

Running LODA my Windows Defender finds this Bearfoos trojan because of LODA.

I'm sure it's a false positive.

Happened to anybody else? Can we fix it?

This is common with the new a/v software that checks on 'virus like' activity ie back and forth communication to a single site fairly often, if you go into your a/v software and exclude the Boinc directories then any real virus that tries to get out of there and attack other files will get caught, while any false positives will be ignored.
5) Questions and Answers : Bugs : Tasks end with computation Error (Message 895)

Post:
I'm on an Apple MacBook Air with M2 processor.
Every task that downloads ends with a "Computation Error".

Either unhide your pc or link to one of the tasks, be aware though that links won't work after the task is moved to the offline database.
6) Questions and Answers : Bugs : Loda won't run on any of my Linux Boxs !!! (Message 821)

As Stated Loda won't run on any of my Linux Boxes, the Wu's all give computation error after 30 seconds or so, run fine though on my Windows Boxes.

Mine are the same way!!

I guess we will stat with the credit level badges.

Personally I'd go with this idea too, as some people collect badges and that would attract them and keep them as they collect more and bigger ones.

SOME Projects, one that comes to mind is Rake Search, also give out monthly badges for X number of tasks completed during a given period of time, for Rake Search it's every month they have a new animal you can get on your personal page. I think it depends on what you are doing with the data and whether anything like that makes sense if you choose to consider that as well. That is one way Rake Search keeps people coming back to their Project every single month.

As for the amount of tasks or credits, most common, or whatever you choose counts towards each badge the badges should have a linear progression between them ie 100, 250, 500, 1k, 2.5k, 5k, 10k, 25k, 50k, 100k etc. Just be aware that some people who crunch are DEFINITE overachievers and will try to get each and every badge you can come up with so be prepared to add more as needed.

One other type of badge that people like is a yearly badge, so every year the badge increments to the next level based on their original signup date, whether they participate or not they can see that their yearly badge is increasing. A simple roman numeral works well for this as does almost anything that has numbers in it.
8) Questions and Answers : Bugs : Are there checkpoints? (Message 395)
Posted 13 Jun 2022 by mikey
Post:
Hi Werinbert, checkpoints are written everytime the progress is updated. Similarly to your observations, we noticed issues with long-running tasks. Therefore we have reduced the taks size to 50% in 220612. We hope that this will reduce such issues. Thanks for reporting it.

I just aborted a 2206.10 task that had run for almost 19 hours and was only about 50% complete, hopefully others do much better. I am still running a 2206.10 task and then all the rest are 2206.11 tasks, 39 of them on this machine alone.
