My Ryzen 7 2700 running Ubuntu is still telling me this when I have a look at any of my 100 per cent errors:

Any ideas how to overcome the situation?
Thanks for your input.

As the project admin kindly advised me, look at your own logs here:

https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/logs.php

These might show up more of a problem than the stderr logs.

I got 181 error code 195 out of 319 WUs. No obvious reason to see.
Windows 10 with GIt installed and rebooted.
2 out of 3 WUs are processed well, others fail after 10 seconds or 2 hours...

Microsoft stopped its support for Win 7 already two years ago. Maybe consider switching to Win 10 or higher which come with preinstalled curl.

Thanks for the "feedback".

As a PC user of many years, I am of course fully aware that Micorsoft decided to stop supporting Win 7, as they have done for many other previous OS.

I am in the situation where Win 10 would not be a good choice, as some of the drivers (that I require for certain "accessory" products) do not have Win 10 drivers available. :-(

So I would need to "scrap" some perfectly good and fully working items, replace them (at considerable cost) with similar models for which Win 10 drivers are available. This is hardly a workable or cost effective solution, unless you are some rich oligarch...

I'd put the cost of "upgrading" to Win 10 at around $3,000 for the new hardware that could work with my existing host, (once upgraded to Win 10).

Pleas send me a PM and I'll provide you with my PayPal account details and donations will be duly and graciously accepted. :-)

ALTERNATIVELY, for others in a similar situation, who want to VOLUNTEER their CPU cycles to your project for FREE, why don't you give specific information of what "extra programs" are required to take part in your project with various operating systems, inc Win 7, Linux Mint etc?

That is a surely a more workable solution (which takes all of 5 minutes to update your website), if you are trying to increase the number of volunteers supporting your project?

FYI: see here for LODA members running different OS:

https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/host_stats.php

I see that there are already 12 members running Win 7 (at time of writing this)!!

(PS: Of course, in the long term, I may have to upgrade the OS, but with Win 11 now requiring specific hardware features to be built in, so, that will require a new PC as well....so add another $1,000 to the above !)

(PPS: I never got a reply to the PM I sent you about team creation...but it's not a problem now, as I found a way to do it).[/url]

Hi Groo

I will see if this makes a difference and will report back, if it is successful, or not.

Hi Groo

Your assistance has been VERY worthwhile...and installing WGet has helped and my "old" (now unsupported, but who cares?) Win 7 host is now crunching away and providing some assistance to this project :-)

thanks and regards

Hi Tim, can you please check for errors in your logs at https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/logs.php ?

Thanks for the reply and feedback.

I have checked my logs as you suggested.

What exactly should I do with these log files, as I'm not a programmer...

However:
The one thing I have seen is this:

No web client found. Please install curl or wget.

This error message is NOT shown in the stderror logs....and installing either "curl" or "wget" is NOT shown on the website as being a "requirement" for processing your tasks, if your host OS is Windows (of ANY variety)..

(Other projects make it clear, from the start, that other resources are required, such as VBox or Microsoft Redistributable Visual C++ files....).

One set of log entries is quite different to all the others, as follows:

So, I don't quite understand what the "Updating files:" relates to ??

But the self-same error at the end of this listing is the same as all the others.

PS: I did install "curl" previously, but it didn't seem to help - as I previously noted.

I have now installed "wget" and I'll check in the morning as to whether this has helped.

regards and thanks again
Tim

Hi Groo

Many thanks for the feedback.

I already had Git and VBox installed on my host, plus I also installed curl (to the System32 sub-directory) but not WGet...

If all these "extra" resources are required for WIn 7 systems to take part, it seems a shame that the project admins have not made this clear in the "Getting started" forum, or even on their website.

I will see if this makes a difference and will report back, if it is successful, or not.

Hi

I'm running WIn 7 Pro and every LODA task I've downloaded has failed after 2-3 seconds.

This is despite Git for Windows being installed, and as per the following message, I also installed curl.,

https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/forum_thread.php?id=8&postid=142

But this didn't help...

See details of my stderr_logs here:

Hi

I just added this project to BOINC Manager (for Windows) and I duly installed Git for WIndows.

This did not request a reboot of the host, so I downloaded some tasks and they all FAILED, with errors within seconds.

1st task error log:

Name wu_1652712035_5860_1
Workunit 27956

<core_client_version>7.16.20</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>

09:48:08 (11596): wrapper: running ../../projects/boinc.loda-lang.org_loda/loda-220523-windows.exe (boinc -H 4)

09:53:46 (11596): app exit status: 0x3
09:53:46 (11596): called boinc_finish(195)

</stderr_txt>
]]>

I rebooted the host and I get the same error.

2nd task error log:

Name wu_1653325548_4079_1
Workunit 89204

<core_client_version>7.16.20</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>

<stderr_txt>
14:48:01 (6080): wrapper (7.7.26016): starting

14:48:06 (6080): loda exited; CPU time 0.000000
14:48:06 (6080): app exit status: 0x3
14:48:06 (6080): called boinc_finish(195)

</stderr_txt>
]]>

Other tasks from other projects are fine....so there's something about your project exe and how it "integrates" with Git for Windows I guess?

9) Questions and Answers : Bugs : Error looking at Team from Account page. (Message 293)

Post:
Hi all

When I did a "Team search" from here:

https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/team_search.php

I get the following appearing at the top of the "results" page:

Database Error

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/boincadm/projects/loda/html/user/team_search.php on line 66

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/boincadm/projects/loda/html/user/team_search.php on line 34

which is clearly a (minor) issue related to the server setup.

Tim
