A workunit can take >4h. In some cases it can occur that the progress "jumps" after it seems to be stuck for a while.

Not worried about time to complete, I'm worried about reliability.

Now they are all erroring e.g https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/workunit.php?wuid=221607:

<core_client_version>7.14.2</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[

</stderr_txt>
]]>

I also now have 4 invalids https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/results.php?userid=324&offset=0&show_names=0&state=5&appid=.

Please fix your software.

Going back to another project for a bit.

Message 358 - Posted: 7 Jun 2022, 7:20:37 UTC - in response to Message 351.

No CPU time is wasted. Results are transferred immediately to the API server.
Can you check for errors in your logs?
https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/logs.php

Our CPU time is being wasted as is the cost of the electricity if we are not getting credit for the work carried out.
There has been a big increase in the number of work units being marked as "Validate error" and receiving 0 credit.
You might be getting your results but we are not getting the credit for them.
If you don't think credit is important then stop giving any credit and see how many stay at your project 'for the science'.

Why are these results being marked as invalid ?
The logs show nothing apart from "WARN |Reaching maximum physical memory limit of 1024MB", "WARN |Recursion detected in stats for" and "WARN |Error reporting CPU hour".
The logs do not show when a task has finished, I thought they used to but now I haven't seen a log that shows a complete run, they just stop part way through as though it ran out of room to write the rest of the log.

I appreciate you are new to BOINC but it appears that you think your project is going well when from the volunteer side of things it is not.

Hi PDW,
sorry for the delay on your validation errors. We were completely busy rewriting and replacing our API server during the last two weeks. We'll look into your validation errors soon.

Cheers,
Christian

Hi PDW,
I checked your validation errors. They appear to have all the same issue: the BOINC time limit is reached. This is weird because we internally also have a time limit which is below the BOINC time limit. We will adjust the configuration and publish a new app version.

App version 220610 is available with two fixes:

 • Fix issue where tasks are stuck at 100% progress
 • Avoid validation errors due to BOINC timeouts

Message 403 - Posted: 18 Jun 2022, 12:26:57 UTC - in response to Message 358.

The logs do not show when a task has finished, I thought they used to but now I haven't seen a log that shows a complete run, they just stop part way through as though it ran out of room to write the rest of the log.

Today I have found...

2022-06-18 13:09:14|INFO |Finished mining after 151 minutes

That was what I thought indicated a log was complete.
There was just one occurrence of 'Finished mining' in my logs, Firefox won't tell me exactly how many individual logs are being shown, it just says over 1,000.
So where are the remainder of the log files, why aren't they showing a 'Finished mining' message ?

Hi PDW,
WUs can successfully finish also without this log message. Logs are removed automatically for successful WUs. Hope this helps.

@Dr Who Fan:
The "Access denied" could be a bug, but I do not understand it, because the logs indicate that LODA was able to access it already earlier. In any case, I opened an issue: https://github.com/loda-lang/loda-cpp/issues/155

Regarding the sudden error without error message: my guess would be that the process was killed due to insufficient available memory.

Hi Dave,
sorry to hear you had errors. I looked into them and it seems like the same issue as here: https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/forum_thread.php?id=52
We have adapted the configuration to fix it.

Cheers,
Christian

Ty Christian, didn't mean to sound so final, I will continue to retry once current cache of other workload drains (likely Thursday now).

Hi,
My computer has already given an error several times as above. As if in the BOINC log, it says that the task has finished, and a message appears in the list of tasks that WU ended with an error. Is this normal? And can something be done about it?
I am asking because it is a waste of time if it has to be like this every time.
I am not a person very familiar with the subject of the project and computers. I installed Git for Wondows and I don't know what to do with it.
There should be some clear instruction if the project requires additional software. I probably missed it ...

That's okay.
You also need Curl on Win 7, Win 10 has it by default.

I'll try and find the instructions...

Your team mate posted here: https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/forum_thread.php?id=8&postid=142

However that mentions v7.83.1 which I found didn't work, others online said it was faulty so I found and installed v7.83.0 which worked fine.

Edit 2: There is a new 7.84.0 version here: https://curl.se/windows/ with a changelog but I can't remember what the actual fault was :O
I'd try 7.84.0 to see if that works before trying to find 7.83.0
