@[TA]crashtech: the new app version (220523) supports checkpointing. Hope this also fixes your issues.

Hi

I just added this project to BOINC Manager (for Windows) and I duly installed Git for WIndows.

This did not request a reboot of the host, so I downloaded some tasks and they all FAILED, with errors within seconds.

1st task error log:

Name wu_1652712035_5860_1
Workunit 27956

<core_client_version>7.16.20</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
(unknown error) - exit code 195 (0xc3)</message>
<stderr_txt>
09:48:08 (11596): wrapper (7.7.26016): starting
09:48:08 (11596): wrapper: running ../../projects/boinc.loda-lang.org_loda/loda-220523-windows.exe (boinc -H 4)
09:53:46 (11596): loda exited; CPU time 58.827977
09:53:46 (11596): app exit status: 0x3
09:53:46 (11596): called boinc_finish(195)

</stderr_txt>
]]>

I rebooted the host and I get the same error.

2nd task error log:

Name wu_1653325548_4079_1
Workunit 89204

<core_client_version>7.16.20</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
(unknown error) - exit code 195 (0xc3)</message>
<stderr_txt>
14:48:01 (6080): wrapper (7.7.26016): starting
14:48:01 (6080): wrapper: running ../../projects/boinc.loda-lang.org_loda/loda-220523-windows.exe (boinc -H 4)
14:48:06 (6080): loda exited; CPU time 0.000000
14:48:06 (6080): app exit status: 0x3
14:48:06 (6080): called boinc_finish(195)

</stderr_txt>
]]>

Other tasks from other projects are fine....so there's something about your project exe and how it "integrates" with Git for Windows I guess?

regards
Tim

Hi Tim, can you please check for errors in your logs at https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/logs.php ?

Thanks for the reply and feedback.

I have checked my logs as you suggested.

What exactly should I do with these log files, as I'm not a programmer...

However:
The one thing I have seen is this:

No web client found. Please install curl or wget.

This error message is NOT shown in the stderror logs....and installing either "curl" or "wget" is NOT shown on the website as being a "requirement" for processing your tasks, if your host OS is Windows (of ANY variety)..

(Other projects make it clear, from the start, that other resources are required, such as VBox or Microsoft Redistributable Visual C++ files....).

One set of log entries is quite different to all the others, as follows:

So, I don't quite understand what the "Updating files:" relates to ??

But the self-same error at the end of this listing is the same as all the others.

PS: I did install "curl" previously, but it didn't seem to help - as I previously noted.

I have now installed "wget" and I'll check in the morning as to whether this has helped.

regards and thanks again
Tim

I got 181 error code 195 out of 319 WUs. No obvious reason to see.
Windows 10 with GIt installed and rebooted.
2 out of 3 WUs are processed well, others fail after 10 seconds or 2 hours...

As the project admin kindly advised me, look at your own logs here:

https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/logs.php

These might show up more of a problem than the stderr logs.

@GolfSierra: I saw many submissions from your worker, e.g. this one:

I assume it is work now?

@Tim: curl is already pre-installed on Windows 10 or higher. That is the reason why we don't mention it explicitly.

I see. So there are the individual logs per workunit.
Thanks for directing me towards them.

git isn't found although it's installed.
As the machine in question is the only one that had Ubuntu 20 installed directly - and also the one to be updated to the highest subversion - I'm asking myself if something of this might have made a difference.
I suppose something has been done differently from my other linux machines.
I'll try to fix the apparent issues.
Thanks again!

It seems the machine isn't too happy about cloning the online programs.
When looking at things I didn't find a directory 'programs', so I created one and set it to be workable by user boinc.
I also re-installed git, but I still get this:

Hi Jens,
this is strange. Can you please run these two commands to verify that git is included in your system-wide environment?
which git
cat /etc/environment

The path where git is installed should appear in the PATH.

3 hours of coretime wasted. With the cost of electricity these days this is not an incalculable amount.

Is this a bug? Is it abutting against computational limits/address-space? Have had enough successful units so far

Seeing about 1/5th of all my tasks failing with computation errors, validate errors, or aborted by myself after a long time of no progress.. Seems to be a bit buggy. Same scenario on Linux and Windows hosts.

Unit https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/result.php?resultid=357672 is stuck at 2.7% after currently 2 hours - other units at this time are approaching 50%!

Within the wu_1653460825_20320_1_r591179086_0 file is:

No CPU time is wasted. Results are transferred immediately to the API server.
Can you check for errors in your logs?

It is a waste if they do not yield credit.

There appears to be a correlation between tasks that error & the following line in the logs, e.g https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/result.php?resultid=383068:
