What determines how much credit you get for a completed work Unit?

For example:

Run Time: Credit:

14,464.14 321.83
15,180.43 36.43

This is done automatically by BOINC (we have not implemented this). Don't know how it is computed. Maybe CPU hours?

We would like to add a new score based on number of new or updated programs per user. We don't have it at the moment. But actually, the currently computed credits agree with our observations on new/updated programs:

To me, the currently used credits look reasonable. Why do you see an urgent need to get rid of them? What is the alternative? (other than custom score)
