After seeing your post I decided to look at one of my Windows PC that I recently did a project reset (detach, reattach) on. I see the project download a ton of file into the project directory.* * It appears the project will download all the old data files that specific PC has used in the past. Currently on the PC referenced above, there is 698 sub-folders,153178 files, consuming a minimum of 504 MB disk space! I will be following this topic to see what the project administrator says. |

Another issue with these many files and folders is it takes BOINC a fair amount of time to enumerate and change attributes/permissions when upgrading and also takes a fair amount of time to read upon initial BOINC startup. PM sent * to project Administrator ckrause requesting review and comment(s) on the topics mentioned in this thread. LODA needs a local copy of all known programs to be able to compare mined programs to the existing versions and decide if the new version is better. |
