Hi all, I'm all for badges as well. It draws some people to the project people they are kind of "badges hunters". They might be less into the idea of the project but they still do some work so bonus. And it doesn't push away the people relly into the project main goal :) Best regards, micropro |

Yes, we can add badges, but we first need to figure out how to do it. If you know any links to instructions, please share them. |

@all: We plan to add milestone badges. Do you have ideas for images that we can use as badges? Please post them here. |

Just use f(i) and use colors or symbols like 1M for a million points. Use the conventional curvy f as in function of i (for integers). E.g., https://www.rapidtables.com/math/symbols/Basic_Math_Symbols.html Or capital sigma ∑ for series. |

So these will be credit badges? i.e. badges for the work of the BOINC Wrapper or it will be an integral measure of the miner's performance - the number of results found |

Hello Seeing how the highest user is currently only on 2M total, I wonder if a ROYGBIV hierarchy could be an option. Badges could be simple easy-to-rescale square thus: LO DA The background could therefore iterate thus (10 & 100 could be deemed too small to bother with): * 1000 = Red * 10000 = Orange * 100000 = Yellow * 1000000 = Green * 10000000 = Blue * 100000000 = Indigo * 1000000000 = Violet 2^n line would requre a lot more badge levels (the current top user would be on their 12th badge at this time). Alternatively ×8: * 1000 = Red * 5000 = Orange * 25000 = Yellow * 125000 = Green * 625000 = Blue (top user currently here) * 3125000 = Indigo * 15625000 = Violet Or ×8: * 1000 = Red * 8000 = Orange * 64000 = Yellow * 512000 = Green (top user currently here) * 4096000 = Blue * 32768000 = Indigo * 262144000 = Violet |

Any strong objections against badges based on number of new and updated programs per user? We could scan the programs repository for "Submitted by ..." comments to calculate that score. |

There's no technical reason that both project series couldn't be implemented but looks like he only wants to use the existing RAC badges and a count badge for number of "Submitted by ..." badges and ignore the credit level badges. |

I guess we will stat with the credit level badges. The work on badges is delayed due to a rewrite of our API server (finished now) and ongoing bug fixing. |

I guess we will stat with the credit level badges. Personally I'd go with this idea too, as some people collect badges and that would attract them and keep them as they collect more and bigger ones. SOME Projects, one that comes to mind is Rake Search, also give out monthly badges for X number of tasks completed during a given period of time, for Rake Search it's every month they have a new animal you can get on your personal page. I think it depends on what you are doing with the data and whether anything like that makes sense if you choose to consider that as well. That is one way Rake Search keeps people coming back to their Project every single month. As for the amount of tasks or credits, most common, or whatever you choose counts towards each badge the badges should have a linear progression between them ie 100, 250, 500, 1k, 2.5k, 5k, 10k, 25k, 50k, 100k etc. Just be aware that some people who crunch are DEFINITE overachievers and will try to get each and every badge you can come up with so be prepared to add more as needed. One other type of badge that people like is a yearly badge, so every year the badge increments to the next level based on their original signup date, whether they participate or not they can see that their yearly badge is increasing. A simple roman numeral works well for this as does almost anything that has numbers in it. |

Any strong objections against badges based on number of new and updated programs per user? We could scan the programs repository for "Submitted by ..." comments to calculate that score. You have 4 categories being listed according to the repository, First, Faster, Better, Bad I assume you thought of doing levels for some/all of these categories ? No idea what sort of levels are being reached in the individual catergories or total in order to suggest badge levels for them. What about posting levels attained just to the forum to begin with to guage the levels and perhaps an artistic person would come forth with badge designs based on catergory/ies on show ? Whichever badges you decide to do the badge images should be put into this folder https://boinc.loda-lang.org/loda/img/ so that external sites can pick them up to show them elsewhere. |

I made a "50 pack" of 300x300 pixel images related to the Loda logo to use as badges. If someone wants to pick some of these and edit the colours or add labels (10K, 100K, etc) please do so. Here is a link to the 50 images: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eknv49z2rrnzp40/20220617%20loda%20badge%20variety%20pack%201%20and%202%20%2850%20badges%29.zip?dl=0 Jamie [/img] |

Thanks for the badges :) The c50k.png file is missing so not showing for those at that level. |

Was going to add that the 10k badge hadn't been assigned but saw it was granted before I posted. Guessing you ran the script again and it gave a second badge to those on 50k and above, but you've cleaned that up as well now ! Did mean to ask if you were planning on showing badges for all levels achieved or just the highest level achieved. Some projects do all, some projects just do the highest. If you are planning on other badges for 'Submitted' then probably stick with just the highest credit level achieved. |
